How scoring works
Scores on The Audit Trail are assessed from each vendor’s own public documentation. If a capability is not confirmed on your own pages (product pages, pricing pages, documentation or marketplace listings your company controls), it scores as absent. The scorecard records what was and was not confirmed for each criterion, so the gap is visible to any reader.
Version 0.9 scores are from public documentation only. Version 1.0 will add hands-on testing criteria. You will be notified before any hands-on assessment of your platform is included in a published score.
The integrity rules
Payment buys assessment and consideration. It never buys a rank, a score, a “Best for” superlative, a verdict or the removal of a con.
Rank inside any list is the vendor’s rubric total, computed at build time. Ties are shown as ties. There is no way to pay for a higher position. A re-score changes a score only when the supporting page confirms the capability per the rubric criterion.
Disclosure
Some vendors pay us to be assessed or listed. Payment never changes a score, a rank or a verdict.
Paid entries carry a “Paid listing” label on the page where the relationship applies. Paid mentions in blog posts and research are labelled “Sponsored.”
Link policy
Vendor links are nofollow. A paid mention adds sponsored to the link’s rel attribute.
Requesting a re-score
If your scorecard shows a capability as absent and you have a public page that confirms it, send us that page. We will check it against the relevant rubric criterion and update the score if the page confirms the capability. The change will appear in the rubric changelog with the date and the source.
A valid source is: a page on your own domain or a marketplace listing your company controls.
Not a valid source: a third-party review site, a reseller page, a press release or a case study published by another vendor.
Send re-score requests to: hello@theauditrail.com
Include:
- The criterion you believe was scored incorrectly
- The URL of the page that confirms the capability
- A brief quote or description of where on the page the confirmation appears
We will respond within a reasonable time. If the evidence is confirmed, the score updates and the changelog records the change. If the page does not confirm the criterion at the level you believe it should, we will explain why.
Corrections to factual information
If any factual information in your scorecard is wrong (company details, a source URL, a quoted figure), send a correction to hello@theauditrail.com with the correct information and a source. We check and update the record. The correction is noted in the changelog.
